I need some help!! (many questions)

Postby NakMuay2503 » Tue Feb 08, 2011 11:03 pm

Sawat Dee Khap,

I'm currently learning thai and I have some questions, that would be nice to help me ;)
Sorry I don't have a thai keyboard btw !

1/ I noticed that there's several ways to say for exemple "Man": Poutchay, Poutchay Kon Nii, Poutchay Kon Neung.

I just wanted to know what "Kon Nii" means in Poutchay Kon Nii, does that mean THE Man instead of A Man ? Or is it the opposite?

2/ I've understood the use of little words to link the adjectives to the nouns, like "Rot Kan Si Daeng", "Mew Twa Lek", "Putchay Kon Neung", etc.

But I heard a sentence l with this: "Puying Twa Djing" (real woman). Why is this "Twa" instead of "Kon" ??

3/I know that the verb "Be" is "Bpen" in Thai, but I heard that sentence:

"Nii Kheu Puying Twa Jing" (this is a real woman).

What is the difference between "Bpen" and "Kheu" ??

Thank you very much!

Hello Nakmuay !

This site can help you more than you think if you type your questions in SEARCH (up right) or words in LOOKUP (up left).

for example, this is a link to classifiers, answering most of your post.

http://www.thai-language.com/ref/classifiers

then, "Poutchay" is not a correct pronunciation : you should say "Pouchay" without "t"
you can use LOOKUP to hear the right pronunciation.

good luck in learning thai !

Ok thank you im going to look if I find answers on the website!

By the way im learnin with Rosetta Stone, it's excellent but sometimes you need some complements about the grammar rules cause nothing is explained it's all about pictures and sounds.
