Did you get it all? When I was reading the story about นายพราน it became fragmented from the point at which พยานก speaks to the crowd about four plates in. Page two did the same; I got the wife giving him a hard time only and had to guess the rest from the parts I could see.

Is there such a word? The RID only gives it as the combining form of ผลิกะ.

There is the cognate word ผลึก, which is pronounced ผะ-หลึก. In this case, it seems to me that we have a Khmer reduction to a single syllable ผลึก/ผลึก (the vowels are pronounced the same, /ə/), with a restoration of the first vowel from Pali. Khmer shows a vacillation - the pronunciations /pleek, plək, pʰaʔlək/ are recorded for ផលិក. Note that the spelling implies a vowel after the first consonant. (Also, note that /pl/ is pronounced [pʰl] - the aspiration is not phonemic in standard Khmer.)
