saep ili kado kaduea

Postby r2d2 » Fri Jan 20, 2012 8:31 am

In a threat which I cannot find anylonger David asked (like me) for the meaning of (แซบอิหลี) kado kaduea in Isan language.

I simply asked now my wife. She explained it as มาก ๆ.

With this information I could find now the supposed Lao counterpart of kado:

ກະດໍ້ ká dɔ́ː 1 adverb too much, exaggeratedly.

Still missing kaduea. Any suggestions?

I think it's just a phonetic emphasis for the phrase.

A translation I came upon noted that: (Isaan) โทรมาเฮ็ดหยังกะด้อกะเดี้ย = (Thai) ทำไมโทรมาหาพร่ำเพรื่อจังเลย

Rick,

Is this:
"Why do you keep calling me over and over again?"

I believe the original question around แซ่บ in these forums is why does the spelling include the superfluous ไม้เอก.

Heuraka! I found it.

ແຊບອີ່ຫລີກະດໍ້ກະເດັ້ຽ

แซบอิหลีกะด้อกะเดี้ย

Meaning;

ກະເດັ້ຽ ká dèː 1 (mainly in the combination ກະດັດກະເດັ້ຽ) excessively, too
ກະດັດ ká dát adjective exaggerated, execessive. 1 adverb exaggeratedly, excessively.
ກະດໍ້ ká dɔ́ː 1 adverb too much, exaggeratedly.

Attempt to translate it:

It tastes really, too excessively. or
It tastes really! In excess as well! (possible? Adding กะด้อกะเดี้ย amuses).

@David: Saep is in Lao without ek but with So Sang (= Siamese Cho Chang, So So does not exist in Lao), in all languages and spellings low class consonants.
