How to type Thai in your laptop

Postby novkhan » Wed Jun 23, 2010 6:19 am

Hi Everyone

I would like to ask, if anyone knows how to set your laptop to write Thai words.?

Is there any free software in the internet that can allow you to use?

Thanks

Type 'keyboard' or "thai keyboard" into the search box near the top of the page (opposite the elephant). Essentially, there are HTML keyboards, or you can set your laptop up for multiple languages. The easiest solution may be to use the keyboard ('KEYB') on the bulk lookup page.

If you are using Windows, go to the Control Panel, and click on Regional & Language Options.

In that dialog, select the Languages tab, and click the 'Details' button under 'Text Services and Input Languages'. You can add the default Thai keyboard (Kedmanee) in there.

Back in Windows, you can now see in the tray a notification 'EN'. Click on that and it gives you the option of changing it to 'TH' for Thai.

There seems to be an awful lot of spammers as of late... perhaps first-time posters could have their posts moderated before they are posted on the site?

As Simon points out, the email to which he refers is likely spam. The information regarding reading and typing Thai can be found in its entirety at http://www.lyndonhill.com/thaiemail.html .

if you're using windows 2000 and above, you don't need any special requirements to type thai.. however you will need to enable a few things on your system.

here's how to do it:(first have your windows cd ready in your cd drive as the following might require additional files from it)

1-open your control panel
2-open your regional and language setings
3-click on the languages tab
4-select install files for complex scripts and install files for east asian
5-now click on the details button under the languages tab
6-in the text and input services dialog, click the add button
7-in the add input dialog, select thai from the drop down box, and click ok
8-close text services dialog by clicking ok
9-click the advanced tab
10-select all enteries for code conversion tables

click apply, you might have to reboot your pc for changes to take effect

after that you should find a language bar or a tray icon(beside your clock) to indicate the current language input.. normally us-english is default, by clicking on it, you will be able to select your thai input... alternatively you can use the keyboard shortcut:alt+shift to change the language input.
