There are currently 5 new and 3 used copies available at Amazon.com. It is a fantastic book which I recommend highly. I was referring to it today, as a matter of fact.

Glen,
you are reffering to the 'Thai Reference Grammar' book of James Higbie. (an excellent book that is allready on my bookshelf).
The Essential Thai book is older and for beginners with a cassete tape.

Best regards ... Jef

Ah, my error. If it helps you find "Essential Thai," here is the information on it:

Essential Thai: A Guide to the Basics of the Thai Language
James Higbie
Post Books - Bangkok Post - The Post Public Publishing Company Ltd.
1997 distributed by DK
ISBN 974-202-035-3

I've got this book - as well as James Higbie's Thai Reference Grammar.

I consider them both to my bibles to Thai Language. The Essential Thai is all you really need, however.

It is currently in many of the bookshops in Bangkok - Bookazine, Asia Books, etc.

Distributed in Thailand by DK Today.

The publisher Bangkok Post has shut down their book publishing division, Post Books.
