I suppose that a true bilingual can understand a concept and express it equally well in 2 languages.

Exactly how that concept is stored, in a way beyond language, is one for the neurologists and psychologists.

Thus in the case of the hanging ไม่ได้, the entire received sentence is stored as a concept and instantly produced in the target language, perhaps even as another part of the brain is receiving the next sentence in the source language.

It seems to me an extraordinary process, but I guess to true bilinguals it is quite natural.

I thought it funny the O/P never weighed back in about this post.

I didn't even know it was a "shill" post until I looked at their posting history , although I did wonder what point they were tryin' to make it.

As far as either consecutive or simultaneous interpretation I'm light years away from possessing that ability, still good topic..
