Howdy,

Getting the newest iPhone or iTouch is definitely the best option here since it will have the Thai font ready to go!

But in case anyone is like me out there and has an older iTouch, I was able to take it over to MBK in Bangkok on that floor with all the cell phones and one of the stalls was able to hook me up with the Thai font and a lot of other neat Thai apps. It cost like 100฿ so I couldn't complain!

Cheers!

Just want to thank all of you for this fantastic forum and whoever thought to add a Thai keyboard to the iPhone. However, I have to say that this is definitely NOT the standard Thai typewriter keyboard that I struggled to learn back in Korat in the early '70s. :D

your link for getting thai fonts on firmware 2.0 looks really insteresting but i could not get the files because im not the member. And its quite complicated and hard to register there. So is there any way you can help so we can retrieve the files on that site?

as I just read this topic... if you have a jailbroken iphone, there are better thai keyboards available through cydia

source for cydia: http://iappdev.com/i/

if this is not working for you because of your firmware, then use this source:

http://iphonekhmer.com - thai 4 rows keyboard...

working perfectly fine and 100% better than the original thai keyboard

have just finished developing an iPhone application for people who want to learn to read Thai. It's called "Reading Thai".
It is much more than a simple alphabet app. Reading Thai covers every aspect of the Thai script, as well as all the rules governing the sounds of letter combination and tones.
It has a lot of phonics-style reading practice with audio. I think it would be good not only for beginners, but also those who want to improve their pronunciation and tone production.
