I'm currently 1 two hour lesson into a block of 15 with a new teacher. She is a teacher in a thai langauge school in thailand and it was quite apparent when she was giving the lesson at the very start that she was not really that experienced with teaching student that are not in the beginner stage of thai.
When I speak Thai I kinda slip into the "being like a thai mode" so instead saying "could you please only use thai when talking to me" I just said "ในภาษาไทยนั้นเรียกว่าอะไรคับ หรือ ในภาษาไทยคับ" and she eventually got it as

The thing is, we basically spoke for 2 hours the way I would with anyone I met, she would correct me when I said something wrong that she thought was important, I would ask for help when I was stuck on a sentence or a word but really there wasn't a lot of direction.
Any pointers would be welcome, even if you're in "lower" stage of learning I would appreciate it. And just to add I really am focusing on regular everyday language.
thanks all.
