Best Thai-Eng Dictionary for Android

Postby Phuket43 » Thu Dec 15, 2011 7:40 am

Been searching the forum but didn't find anything. I am looking for a good recommendation for a Thai-Eng Dictionary. Looking at Android MArket you get completely overwhelmed. Thanks Phuket 43

The one I use is Thai Dict by Thana Tassanasteinkit from Android Market.

It's free and the vocabulary size is pretty good, but much better if you are connected to the internet as it accesses a larger database.
There's also a Collins Thai<>English dictionary app that's $9.99, but I haven't tried that one yet.

The Thai keyboard I use and really like is Keyboad ManMan แมนแมน also from Android Market.
โชคดี and Happy studying.

I downloaded the Collins Thai<>English dictionary from the Android market place ($9.99) last night and used it for studying today.
It's not bad.

The main advantage over the free apps I've tried is the pronunciation. It's pretty clear and accurate. (My level of Thai is intermediate conversational plus American English).
You will need a good WiFi signal or 3G/4G internet connection for it to work well.

The vocabulary database is pretty extensive but doesn't list a lot of technical or scientific terms.
Also I could not find any slang, no bad words, no idioms, so if you're trying to look up words like boobs, poop or pee, you'll have to look elsewhere.
