My friend posted on Instagram, a pic of himself wearing a surgical mask at a cafe in Bangkok. This was the text that went on the pic:
ต้องเลือกระหว่าง หายใจแล้วตายและหายใจไม่ออกแล้วตาย

หายใจแล้วตาย = die of fright??

"I have to choose between dying of fright and never going out and dying of fright"??

I found ใจหาย here in the dictionary, but not หายใจ.

Here's my take:

"ต้องเลือกระหว่าง หายใจแล้วตายและหายใจไม่ออกแล้วตาย"

I have to choose between breathing this air and dying from [the poison] and not taking a breath at all and dying [from asphyxiation].

Well, that's embarassing: หายใจ = breathe. So yes, you are correct!
