คงไม่พ้น = must be.

I have a question about the above phrase. I cant find this phrase anywhere. The RID has no mention of it or even ไม่พ้น.
Literally to me it is 'likely not escape'. How do you get 'must be' from it?

Actually, this section of the sentence is "คงไม่พ้นคุณนั่นเอง" or "คงไม่พ้น....นั่นเอง"; it is composed of คง + ไม่ + พ้น + คุณ 'the object of ไม่พ้น' + นั่นเอง.
According to RID:
1. คง ก.
ยังมียังเป็นอยู่อย่างเดิม เช่น คงความเป็นไท or เป็นคำ บอกลักษณะคาดคะเน เช่น คงจะเป็นเช่นนั้น คงมาแล้ว (indicating possibility)
2. ไม่ ว. มิ, คําปฏิเสธความหมายของคําที่อยู่ถัดไป เช่น ไม่กิน ไม่ดี or ถ้าอยู่ท้ายคํา ต้องมีคํา หา อยู่หน้า เช่น หากินไม่
3. พ้น ก. อาการที่ผ่านหรือหลุดเป็นต้นออกไปอยู่นอกเขตหรือเลยที่กำหนดไว้ เช่นพ้นอันตราย พ้นกิเลส พ้นทุกข์ พ้นเกณฑ์ พ้นตัว พ้นบ้าน or พ้น ว. นอกเขตออกไป เช่นข้ามพ้น บินพ้น ผ่านพ้น หลุดพ้น.
4. นั่นเอง คําประกอบคําอื่นแสดงการเน้นให้หนักแน่นยิ่งขึ้น เช่น เขานั่นเอง (indicating 100%)

In short, 'must be' is interpreted from the use of 'ไม่พ้น' (not to be anyone else, but ...) that is modified by 'คง' (possibility) as wel as 'นั่นเอง' (100%).

My post also put all these definitions and I had คุณ as the object of ไม่พ้น and นั่นเอง the emphatic pronoun, yourself.
คง as everything remaining the same as the basis for thinking something will probably happen.
So for คง I think 'everything still as it was'; 'if nothing changes' เขาคงจะมา He is likely to come.
So I get ความเสียใจคงไม่ผ่านคุณนั่นเอง The sorrow likely not go beyond you yourself.

Absolutely, there is so much space for interpretation, the final meaning is more or less the same, even my original which talks about the girl going to someone else and finishes with, so there! has the basic message, Look after what you have or you may lose it and you will be sorry.
