Today's Thai-Flashcards entry is,

"ขอผมพูดกับเจ้าของโรงแรมหน่อยได้ไหม?
Can I speak to the owner of the hotel?"

I am puzzled by how colloquial the Thai syntax is. (We need not discuss the question of whether "Can" should be "May".)

I would have expected either, "ขอให้ผมพูดกับเจ้าของโรงแรมหน่อยได้ไหม?" or "ขอพูดกับเจ้าของโรงแรมหน่อยได้ไหม?"

From my feeling, หน่อยได้ไหม is already very polite.
So, the sentences below are all equivalent to me.
ขอพูดกับเจ้าของโรงแรมหน่อยได้ไหม?
ขอผมพูดกับเจ้าของโรงแรมหน่อยได้ไหม?
ขอให้ผมพูดกับเจ้าของโรงแรมหน่อยได้ไหม?
