Can anyone show me how to write dates in thai?
I would like to know how i would write 30th September 2009. I know how to write september in thai but is there a common abbreviation when writing it? Also does the month typically come first or the day?
Also is it more appropriate to translate the western year into the thai year when writing dates in thai or is it acceptable to use either?
Thanks to anyone who can help!
You'll also want the syntax for date expressions:
วัน (day)
ที่ (which is)
๓๐ (numbered day)
กันยายน (of month)
๑๕๕๒ (year) or
วันที่ ๓๐ กันยายน ๒๕๕๒, or
๓๐ ก.
ย.
๕๒, or
๓๐ /
ก.
ย. /
๕๒ Notice that the formatting of the abbreviated date differs from our own:
9 / 30 / 09 (English) =. 30 / 9 / 52 (Thai)
You can, in general, substitute the Christian-era (AD) date for the Buddhist-era (BE) date,
as both are well-known in Thailand.
There was even a celebration in Thailand for the New Year's day of Jan 1, 2000.
