How to say Guppy in Thai?

Postby Thomas » Sun Nov 05, 2017 10:58 am

Wikipedia says: ปลาหางนกยูง

Lookup of Tl.com does not know Guppy.

Is this here a Guppy?

หางนกยูง /หาง-นก-ยูง/
[นาม] ชื่อไม้พุ่มชนิด Caesalpinia pulcherrima Swartz ในวงศ์ Leguminosae ลำต้นและกิ่งมีหนาม ดอกสีแดง เหลือง หรือ ชมพู.

How the authors of this beloved dictionary would call a Guppy in Thai language?

What you found, Caesalpinia pulcherrima, is not guppy. It's a plant.

Guppies are Poecilia reticulata.

However, you had the right word. See Wikipedia

Q.E.D.

Next spring I'll sent a nice mix of Turkish and Dutch tulips to David in Huston.

Hopefully the bulbs without ลุกยุง.

How guppy Wikipedia is actually? I used guppy as an "adjective" - as well as you ;)
