Hi everybody!

Everybody know เรา = us, we and ours, but it can also be used in the singular pronoun (me) and second personal pronoun (you).

I have taken some example from Thai Language, but I still not sure I'm understand when to use Rao with me and you. Is it when you speak about yourself and when you speak about somebody else, see example.

I have had a disscussion about this with a person and he say that people use Rao about themselves (in Bangkok) as in "I will go shopping" or "I don't have time", is this right or not? I say no, am I right?

"Nobody loves me."

ทำไมถึงต้องเป็นเรา!

"Why does it have to be me?" — "Why me?"

"You equivocator, you!" — "You sly, you!"
You sneaky bastard, is this plain english for the above?

yes, people use Rao about themselves, I have heard it quite often and I think it conveys some particular meaning that a native Thai will explain better than me.

Many celebrities being interviewed in the newspapers refer to themselves as เรา.

I don't think so, this one refers to the second personal pronoun as Rao as I understand it.

Okey, I think the above is what I expected it to be. When you refer to yourself like, "Today I look awful วันนี้เราหน้าตาแย่มาก".

But you cannot say เรารักคุณ...or?

This can be found in the situation when a senior person (such as the mother, the father, the aunt, the uncle, the sister, the brother, the coach, or any senior relative or friend) remarks on an obvious characteristic of the young one (in a friendly way). Therefore, "เรา" tends to refer to the second person (or the young one).

"กะล่อนจริง ๆ เลยนะเรา" is rather equivalent to, "You're rather sly, aren't you?"
