Just on my way home ก็กำลังจะกลับบ้านแล้ว
Where are you now อยู่ไหนแล้ว
Walking to green park station เดินอยู่ที่green park ไง
Oh ok, so you will arrive home at what time?? โอเค แล้วจะถึงบ้านกี่โมงอ่ะ
In thirty minutes, อีกสามสิบนาที
Okay good! Don't be late i cooked dinner ดีแล้่วอย่ามาสายนะฉันทำกับข้าวให้คุณ

We can all see what you mean, so it is good enough. Even a native speaker could not do better, since it wouldn't sound like you speaking and your girl would be shocked if you sounded like someone else.
I wouldn't call her ตัวเอง though. :)

เดินอยู่ที่green park ไง means "walking at green park".

If you meant to say "I'm walking to green park station", then it should be "กำลังเดินไปที่(สถานี) green park", no need the particle ไง here.

Hi Khun starscream!

I'm not an expert here on this, but I can refere to my own language and I think it goes for all language. "spoken language and written language is two different things".

If we start to talk or speak as we write I think we would be very academic and it would be very difficult to even be ourselves :) .

But as for this line here กำลังจะ is an auxiliary verb combination to the main verb กลับบ้าน to give it more relevance or meaning. กำลังจะ = about to...

So ก็ = just, กำลังจะ = about to..., return home. But leave it out? In written I don't know, but spoken yes. I agree with you I never here my wife use กำลัง or nobody else for that matter!

Let's see what other here think about it!

It's my experience that Thais don't really กำลัง all that much in casually spoken Thai.

From my eavesdropping on them it would appear that they're much more into อยู่'ing than กำลัง'ing when they talk.

I used to make up dialogs of conversations I'd have with Thais, however, none of the Thais I ever talked to would stay "on script". Usually after my "opening gambit" I'd be งงเป็นไก่ตาแตก (confused as a broken eyed chicken  ) as in I'd have abso-tively, posi-lutely no idea what they were saying.

OFF TOPIC:
BTW: I get a LOT of mileage outta the idiom งงเป็นไก่ตาแตก seeing as every Thai I've used it on knows it. .. I've found idioms and colloquial expressions can "break the ice" when you're tryin' to speak to Thais in Thai.

For this context, กำลัง is needed to emphasize that the speaker is on the way to the station.

อยู่ would be used to emphasize the action you are doing.

But this is the answer of the question "Where are you now", not "What are you doing".

If the question is "What are you doing?", then the answer can be "เดินอยู่ - I am walking".

Ex.

A: อยู่ไหนแล้ว
B: กำลัง(เดิน)ไปที่สถานีรถไฟฟ้า
A: มาถึงสถานีรถไฟฟ้าแล้วหรือยัง
B: ยัง
A: ทำไมมาช้านักล่ะ
B: รีบแล้ว วิ่งอยู่นี่อะ

Other examples when the word "กำลัง" is needed ;

- นั่นไงสมชาย มาพอดีเลย กำลังบ่นถึงอยู่เชียว

- เอาน้ำมาใ้ห้หรือ ขอบคุณนะ รู้ได้ยังไงว่ากำลังหิวน้ำพอดีเลย

- รอเดี๋ยวนะ กำลังจะออกจากบ้าน

Well, come to think about it, I think it's not wrong to answer "เดินไปสถานี green park อยู่" either.

A: ตอนนี้อยู่ไหนแล้ว
B: เดินไปสถานี green park อยู่

In English it is much simpler,
Where are you?
Walking to Green Park.
Everything is in the present.
The scene is that the speaker is expecting his girl to return home, he knows her business for the day and the route she needs to take to come home.
What he wants to know is where she is now.
In Thai it would be said like this I think.
อยู่ที่ไหน
เดินไป "กรีน ภาร์ก"

It is no great wonder that people don't specify time in conversations in English why should it be so in Thai?
