iOS 7's new font

Hi! As you know, Apple's iOS 7 has introduced a new, modern Thai font. Unfortunately, I'm still only able to read the standard, traditional Thai characters. Does anyone know if it's possible to change this font without jail-breaking the iphone or going back to iOS 6? Barring those possibilities, then I need some help/advice on learning to read modern fonts ASAP!! :? I've already got texts on my phone I can't make heads or tails out of...

Thanks much

Yes, the new font in iOS7 is a bit tricky to read isn't it?

Unfortunately, you can't go back to iOS6 and I would imagine that a jailbreak for iOS7 probably isn't available yet.

What I have noticed, however, is that in the social chatting apps such as whatsapp, the Thai font is one of the more legible ones. So it might be a short-term fix to try to use those?

I know there is discussion about how unhappy a lot of Thai users are about the iOS7 font, but quite how long we'll have to wait for Apple to give us more options is not yet clear.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Thanks so much for all the replies, and I definitely will be contacting Apple about this as well. One workaround I have just discovered for any text that can be copied & pasted is to paste it into the wonderful Bulk Lookup here at Thai-Language and the text will appear in traditional style...

I will say this in favor of the change: The keyboard itself has remained the same, but you'll notice as you're typing text that it's showing up as the new font. This might turn out to be a pretty cool assist on the to way to learning the modern script! ;)

Let's do a poll: How many people (native Thais and foreign learners) actually use the new font for handwriting? How does your handwriting distinguish between, for example and or and ?

I don't do any handwriting (I know, I should) but all the handwriting I've seen bears little or no resemblance to any font.

Apart from my step-daughter's school work of course, but that's quite normal I feel, when first learning to write, people have to write as instructed.

Later in life their own 'hand' develops.

I can't imagine how different the font can be. I have iOS 7 on the iPad and there is the same as it was with iOS 6.
I wonder if the iPad will show the new font, can you post an example?
