From a headline in a magazine this week: "อยากพูดดีพูดเก่งต้องอ่าน". I believe this means, "If you want to speak well and intelligently, you must read." or "Reading is critical to speaking articulately and intelligently."

I see what you mean. If you think of two clauses the second the result of the first 'then' you seem to need a conjunction (ก็/จึง)
