Site News

November 23, 2009 It's now also possible to more fully disable all transcriptions from appearing. See site settings for details.

November 22, 2009 Many thanks to our volunteer in Phuket for entering another set of data into the dictionary.

Also, you can now select the popular Paiboon transliteration scheme in your Site Settings Control Panel. Many people have requested this over the years since they learned from Khun Becker's popular series of books and tapes.

There are new options for IPA transliteration also; you can now select whether you want 'mid' tones to be marked, and you can select one of three different mechanisms for marking tones: diacritical marks, IPA "tone bars," or tone contour numbers. You can also now specify whether you want the glottal stop initial and/or glottal stop final symbol (ʔ) to appear in your IPA transcriptions.

Note that some of these options work best with one of the free SIL IPA fonts installed. With Charis SIL installed, you can apply the new recommended setting in the Romanization HTML style section of your Site Settings.

I've also activated a bunch of changes under the hood which are intended to enable the aforementioned features, fix bugs, and increase performance of the site. All of these changes were fairly extensive so I hope that I have not broken anything. If problems arise, please let me know.
