By the by, here's a wonderful website with Birthday wishes in Thai: http://www.rakjung.com/birthday-poems-no96.html . The site contains "44 คําอวยพรวันเกิด สั้นๆ คําอวยพรวันเกิดกวนๆ" (Forty-four short birthday wishes and not-so-flattering birthday wishes). Here is one:

"โตเป็นสาวแล้วนะจ๊ะ รีบๆหาแฟนหน่อยนะเพื่อนซี้ เดี๋ยวได้ขึ้นคานตายพอดี อยู่คนเดียวทั้งปีไม่ดีหรอกเธอ"

My take: "You’ve now reached puberty; hurry up and find a mate, my friend. If you don’t, you’ll die as an old maid. Hey, its not a good thing to live by yourself all year long."
