คนร้ายสมัยนี้ไม่กลัวบาป เพราะกล้าขโมยของศักดิ์สิทธิ์ที่คนเคารพบูชา
Today’s criminals are not afraid of sinning because they even dare to steal sacred objects which people worship and venerate.

Is the following translation appropriate?

"ผู้ร้าย/ สมัยนี้/ ไม่กลัว/ บาปกรรม
เพราะ/ บังอาจ/ ขโมย/ ของศักดิ์สิทธิ์/ ที่เคารพบูชา"


As I feel, that is ok David.
But we can appropriate it to be nicer in 2 ways
Because this sentence make from 2 level of vocabulary so we can make the same pattern of these
words to parallel this structure.



1. Formal way.

“ผู้ร้ายสมัยนี้ไม่เกรงกลัวต่อบาป เพราะบังอาจขโมย ของ/สิ่งศักดิ์สิทธิ์”

ผู้ราย is formal word but ไม่กลัวบาปกรรม is informal

it’s more appropriated If you want to filled up this way to speech or writing report .

but you don’t need to have ..ที่เคารพบูชา..

Because ของสิ่งศักดิ์สิทธิ์ it’s completed in the meaning of worship by itself.

But if we must emphasize on how much important of the holy for peoples.

we should say ผู้ร้ายสมัยนี้ไม่เกรงกลัวต่อบาป เพราะบังอาจขโมยสิ่งศักดิ์สิทธิ์ ซึ่งเป็น ที่เคารพบูชา (ของประชาชน)





2. Informal way

“คนร้ายสมัยนี้ไม่กลัวบาป เพราะกล้าขโมยของศักดิ์สิทธิ์”
or คนร้ายสมัยนี้ไม่กลัวบาป เพราะกล้าขโมยของศักดิ์สิทธิ์ ที่คน เคารพบูชา

คนร้าย / ไม่กลัวบาป both are informal.

this is an informal way to talk about this topic with anyone.

Don’t need any ซึ่ง for informal way, but use ที่คน ที่เขา ที่เรา เคารพบูชากัน instead

Such as example from my Thai writing exercise book.

71. เขาพบศพคนตาย เพศชาย...

ศพ = corpse/ so you don’t need any word to follow ศพ in the same meaning of a dead body.


77. “ทุกคนจะร่วมรับประทานอาหารเย็นพร้อมกัน”

It very ok if you will say this quote with your friend.

But in the formal way such as Thesis, Text books “ทุกคนจะร่วมรับประทานอาหารเย็นพร้อมกัน”

It’s wordy, redundant with the same meaning of 2 word.

It could be a good game to spot the redundancies in language as you have done in your examples from your exercise book. Both English and Thai are full of them.

The words เจ้า and นาย and the words เวร and กรรม are interwoven to create 'เจ้ากรรมนายเวร'.
