Pronouns

So far, we have seen how pronouns can often be left out of sentences. But often, sentences can sound more polite if implied words are not left out. Now it's time to learn some of the most common Thai pronouns.

¼Á phohmRI; me [for male speakers]
©Ñ¹ chanRI; me [for female speakers]
¤Ø³ khoonMyou
à¢Ò khaoRhe; she; they
àÃÒ raoMwe

Now we can look at some of the phrases from Lesson 2 with the implied pronouns shown in parentheses in the word position where they could be placed.

(¤Ø³)ʺÒ´ÕËÃ×Í  /khoonM saL baayM deeM reuuR/   (you) [are] feeling good [question]?
(©Ñ¹)ÂÔ¹´Õ·Õèä´éÃÙé¨Ñ¡(¤Ø³)  /chanR yinM deeM theeF daiF ruuH jakL khoonM/   ♀ (I) [am] delighted to have met (you).
