Comparative Form

It's easy to compare things when speaking Thai. For this the word

is used. Add it like a suffix to the end of any adjective to say "...than" or "-er." For example:

[is] bigger than ...; larger than ...	ใหญ่กว่า	yaiL gwaaL
[is] longer than...	ยาว กว่า	yaaoM gwaaL
[is] shorter than... (in length)	สั้น กว่า	sanF gwaaL
[is] shorter than... (in height)	เตี้ย กว่า	dtiiaF gwaaL
[is] taller than...; higher	สูง กว่า	suungR gwaaL
[is] smarter than...	ฉลาด กว่า	chaL laatL gwaaL
[is] cheaper than...	ถูก กว่า	thuukL gwaaL
[is] cleaner than...	สะอาด กว่า	saL aatL gwaaL
is better than...; better not; would rather...; had better...	ดี กว่า	deeM gwaaL
[is] prettier than...	สวย กว่า	suayR gwaaL
below; under; lower than	ต่ำ กว่า	dtamL gwaaL
etc.
